Indians shut out Blue Jays in ALCS Opener

The Cleveland Indians blank the Toronto Blue Jays as they win 2-0 in the opener of the AL Championship Series.

It took Cleveland six innings to break the deadlock. 2B Jason Kipnis drew a one-out walk and SS Francisco Lindor followed with a home run to give the Indians a 2-0 lead.

CL Cody Allen pitched a perfect ninth to earn the save. He has a 0.00 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP this postseason.

Toronto’s SP Marco Estrada (0-1) worked 8 innings, giving up 6 hits, 1 walk and 2 earned runs while striking out 6. He has a 1.65 ERA with a 0.67 WHIP in the playoffs.

Cleveland’s SP Corey Kluber (1-0) pitched 6.1 innings, allowing 6 hits and 2 walks while fanning 6. He has yet to give up an earned run in this year’s postseason and has a WHIP of 1.05 to show for.
