RB Adrian Peterson becomes a free agent. The Minnesota Vikings weren’t prepared to pay $18 million next season but did not rule out to re-sign him for much less. The 31-year old has shown interest in the Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Giants but wouldn’t mind staying in Minnesota.

The Kansas City Chiefs rewarded SS Eric Berry with a six-year contract, worth $78 million after the 28-year old hinted that he would sit out the season if franchise-tagged. Eric Berry is versatile and arguably the best safety in the league. Last season he recorded 4 interceptions and 2 pick-sixes.

The Washington Redskins tagged QB Kirk Cousins for a second straight year and are expected to pay him almost $24 million in 2017. Last offseason the Redskins undervalued the 28-year old at $16 million and now risk losing him after the 2017 season. Kirk Cousins completed 67% of his passes for 4,917 yards last year and threw 25 touchdowns and 12 interceptions for a passer rating of 97.2.

Kansas City release RB Jamaal Charles after nine seasons, saving the Chiefs $6.2 million in cap space. In his prime Jamaal Charles was one of the best running backs but hasn’t played much after an ACL tear in 2015. The 30-year old rushed for only 40 yards on 12 carries last season but averaged at least 5 yards per carry in his previous eight seasons with the Chiefs.

The New York Jets released CB Darrelle Revis after a disappointing season and his arraignment on several criminal charges. This move saves the Jets $7.33 million in cap space. The 31-year old used to be one of the best cornerbacks to ever play the game but seems to have lost a step or two. Darrelle Revis may have to consider converting to safety unless he decides to retire.

QB Colin Kaepernick will opt out of his contract, enabling him to enter the free agency market. The 29-year old led the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2012 but struggled on and off the field since. The New York Jets have been mentioned as potential suitors.
