What the hell is going on in Free Agency?

Maybe I'm dead wrong here, but this NFL free agency period seems like the wackiest and wildest one ever. And it technically does not even start until tomorrow! I've gone through a bunch of the big name dominoes that have already fallen, but today we finally started getting some quarterback clarity. QB Clarity. That sounds like it could be a rapper's name. Maybe drop the C and throw a K on the front - I'd listen to a guy named QB Klarity. He sounds hot in the streets right now.

So, in the wee hours of the morning, Case Keenum has agreed in principle to join the Denver Broncos. The deal will become official tomorrow afternoon, and we should also learn the money amount at that time, as well. John Elway now has his QB of the present. But does he have his QB of the future? Let's embrace debate...

Personally, I think this is a solid move for the Broncos, given the lack of real star quarterbacks this year. Keenum, after bouncing around to a number of teams, found a great deal of success with Minnesota last season. When Sam "Sammy Sleeves" Bradford went down after Week 1, Keenum's performance on the field called for a little bit of stability for the rest of the season. Even if the coaches wanted to give Teddy "No Knee" Bridgewater a second chance.

While I thought that Kirk Cousins was going to Denver, especially after a very vocal endorsement by Von Miller, I think Keenum fits there pretty well. Unless, he reverts back to Rams and Texans Case Keenum. At that point, we could hopefully get a heated battle between Keenum, Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch, and Chad "Jim Kelly's Nephew" Kelly.

Back up in the Norse wasteland of Minneapolis, the Vikings have agreed to sign Kirk Cousins, and the QB carousel is in full swing. Kirk to Minnesota definitely makes sense, but is he really an upgrade over their other options? I'm pretty sure Keenum, Bradford, and Cousins are all the same guy, just in different cloned forms.

And while Kirk no doubt has talent, I also am of the belief that he lacks the "clutch gene." So will Cousins get the Vikings to a farther step than Keenum did? Honestly, probably not. But that's okay! They can be a consistent 9-7, 8-8 team for the next 5 to 7 years. Maybe a rare 10-6 season if Kirk is really feeling himself one season.

So Case to Denver, Kirk to Minny. The last two big QB openings are the Jets and the Cardinals. Can't wait to find out which below-average quarterbacks get those two vacancies!
