RECAP: A PREASEASON DATE WITH THE ISLANDERS

The Devils where back in action last night against there other cross town rival, the New York Islanders which resulted in a losing 4-3 effort. Cory Schiender started his first game of the 2016-17 season after returning from his stint with Team USA. John Hynes and management decided to go with a more inexperienced roster which In was in most cases would be the last opportunity for certain players to make a impression. Miles Wood, Nick Lappin, and Joe Blandisi skated together on the top line, that trio consists of front runners for the last 1-2 roster positions. The combination would have a solid night, they tallied the second goal which was scored by Miles Wood and assisted by Joe Blandisi. Nick Lappin playied a overall solid game, he registered 3 shots and ended the night around 17 minutes of ice time. Cory Schiender allowed 4 goals on 30 shots, which yields a .886 S% which is very un-Cory like. Last night marked the first time Schiender saw game action since a pre-tournament game vs. Canada in Ottawa, so a little rust was defiantly expected and i fully suspect he will rebound greatly next game. John Hynes referenced that more cuts would be coming this afternoon, I will give a full analysis of those roster subtractions as soon as they are made available.
