Giants lock up JPP

The Giants extended DE Jason Pierre-Paul to a 4 year deal worth about $17 million a year, with $54 million reportedly guaranteed. JPP is one of the leaders on the defensive side of the ball for the Giants, and there was really no question as to if they would extend him, it was just a matter of time and money.

The Giants defense really came alive in the second half of the season, and JPP was a big influence of that, before a hernia injury cut his season short. But the Giants still needed him back, and signing him long term will reduce his cap number, allowing the team to attempt to re-sign DT Jonathan Hankins as well.

The Giants signed WR Brandon Marshall last week, and now with re-signing JPP and attempting to bring back Hankins, they are making all the right moves to put the team in a real position to compete for a Super Bowl berth this upcoming season.
