A few notes from around the league;

-Daniel Alfredsson is going to become an official Canadian citizen next week during a ceremony in the World Cup. Alfredsson, who is from Sweden, spent his entire career as a beloved member of the Ottawa Senators.

-Evgeny Kuznetsov made comments regarding Nikita Kucherov's contract situation with the Tampa Bay Lightning, saying that if he were Kucherov he would've already signed in the KHL. Kucherov still remains an RFA even as training camp grows closer so the possibility of Kucherov potentially leaving for Russia can't be ruled out if he doesn't get a contract from Tampa.

-Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin said that he will help represent Russia's Olympic hockey team in the next Winter Olympics, despite the fact that the NHL may refuse to send players. By doing that, Ovechkin says he knows that it may cost the Capitals in a potential playoff push, not to mention the potential punishment that may come along as well.
