Notes around the league;

-Patrick Kaleta believes he still can provide for a team in the NHL and wants to sign an NHL deal with a team. Kaleta did not play in the NHL last season and is known best for his time with the Buffalo Sabres.

-Chris Osgood thinks that the best is yet to come for young Red Wings center Riley Sheahan. He also believes that Sheahan can become an elite center in the NHL one day. "The best is yet to come" says Osgood.

-John Tavares at this point is very unlikely to leave the Islanders and could sign a contract extension before he hits free agency in a couple of seasons.

-Many expected and anticipated that the USA-Canada rivalry would be a key story to watch in this year's World Cup, and boy were they right. This rivalry has gotten nasty this year as well. One of the top story lines to watch in the days ahead.
