NHL Notes; Manny Malhotra Hired As Coach For Canucks, John Torterella Under Fire, Kris Russell FA Latest, George Parros

​Some notes from around the league; 

-The Vancouver Canucks have hired former NHLer Manny Malhotra as a development coach. Malhotra just recently announced his retirement from the NHL and spent time with the Canucks among other teams during his career. 

-USA Team head coach and Columbus Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella is under fire for comments he made about players sitting during the US Anthem. He said that if any players sit during the national anthem he will have them benched for the entire game. It has made many around the sports world very upset with the comments, however Tortorella is not expected to be disciplined for it. 

-Kris Russell is fielding offers from many teams who have intense interest in him and he is expected to sign very soon. Four teams have already made offers to the defenseman. 

-Former NHL enforcer George Parros has been hired to be apart of the NHL Player Safety Committee. Parros was a known fighter during his NHL days, and will now help to protect players from injuries sustained from dirty hits and fights.
