Rangers To Acquire Eric Staal(Update)

The New York Rangers have acquired forward Eric Staal from the Carolina Hurricanes for 2 second round draft picks and prospect Aleksi Saarela. 

Staal, 31, has 10 goals and 33 points this season for the Hurricanes. He is an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The Hurricanes will reportedly retain 50% of Staal's salary in the deal. 

As for the Hurricanes side of the deal, they will acquire 2 second round picks and forward prospect Aleksi Saarela. Saarela, 19, was a 3rd round pick of the New York Rangers in the 2015 draft.
