?Some more notes;

-The Dallas Stars come into the 2016-17 NHL season with two high priced goaltenders on bad contracts in Kari Lehtonen and Antti Niemi, but can this tandem manage to hold it together in net for the Cup contending Stars? Dallas will need them to if they want to make a deep playoff run this year. It's not 100% known if they truly shopped either or both players in the offseason, but if they did, clearly there were no takers due to both Goalies' contracts.

-The Vancouver Canucks come into this season with interesting questions about the team. Management feels this club will be a contender, while some fans and reporters feel that this team will finish dead last in the league this year. Based on what I see, the Canucks are in for a rebuild regardless, and the way management is trying to avoid it could make this an even more painful situation for fans in Vancouver.

-How much longer will it be before the Arizona Coyotes contend again? The way the future is looking in Arizona, it shouldn't be more than 1-2 more years before this team will look like a perennial contender. With players like Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Max Domi, Anthony Duclair, Dylan Strome, Christian Dvorak, Tobias Reider, and Jakob Chychrun on board, the Coyotes will eventually end up with one of the strongest core of players in the league.

-The Boston Bruins have an issue, their defense. While they have a nice crop of forwards, their defense is decimated and will hurt this team bad if they don't find upgrades. Two choices the team could make are to sign Kris Russell to a one-year deal and/or find a way to get Jacob Trouba from the Jets. Whatever it is, Boston will need reinforcements on the blue line if they want to shoot for the playoffs this year.
