Texas Longhorns suspend Holton Hill for remainder of 2017 season
Texas Longhorns defensive back Holton Hill has been suspended by the program for the remainder of the 2017 season.
According to Horns247, the suspension is in relation to Hill violating team rules, though the specific rule has not been disclosed by the Austin-based program.
The loss of Hill is a big one for the Longhorns' secondary, with Hill contributing 51 total tackles, good for second on the team, and two interceptions in nine games this season.
His two interceptions were returned for a total of 76 yards and two touchdowns.
He has also helped break up six passes from opposition Quarterbacks and even forced a fumble this season.
The suspension will also be a huge blow to the Houston, Texas, native.
In a recent mock draft by Bleacher Report, the Texas DB was listed as a potential first-round draft pick.
The 6-foot-3, 200lb will now miss out on the rest of the season, even if the Longhorns play in a bowl game.
The big-bodied defensive back will be sorely missed, with no obvious replacement ready and waiting, and the Longhorns will need to figure out a plan for their remaining three regular season games quickly.
Hill will continue to train with the team, but he will not be seen again on the field this year.
