Double digit comebacks, dagger funks, game winning buzzer beaters were just a few things that went down at the PSAL A&B championships last weekend. Four new champions were crowned, while some top ranked teams fell short of winning the title.

1. No Lead is Safe

Fannie Lou, James Madison and Walton all battled back from huge leads en route to victory. The Biggest comeback came from Walton which was down by 17 in the first half to a very good Brooklyn Law and Tech Team. James Madison struggled in the first half before dominating Lab Museum in the second half.

2. The Bronx B Division Reign's supreme

For the second year in a row, the "B" City championship featured two teams from the Bronx as rivals Fannie Lou Hamer and South Bronx prep faced off against each other. Last year's city championship featured Kipp NYC College prep and Jane Addams. Both the cougars and the Panthers dominated their respective divisions this season and could continue to do so for years to come. It was the second championship for Fannie Lou since 2013.

3. It's a great year for Bronx Basketball

Along with Cardinal Hayes representing the Bronx in the "AA" division, Walton and Fannie Lou will be representing the borough in the A and B divisions respectively in this weekend's state federation tournament in Glens Falls.

4. It's a First time for everything

Last Week's championship games had a lot of new faces. In the B division, South Bronx Prep made their 1st appearance in school history, while Holcombe L. Rucker High School's Girl's team won their 1st championship in school history. In the A Walton won their 1st championship since 1993 while Brooklyn Law and Tech made their 1st appearance in school's History.

5. Rivera and Davis Shined

Two players who shined on the big stage last saturday was Fannie Lou junior forward Charles Davis and Walton senior guard Andre Rivera. Charles Davis went off for 22 points and 15 rebounds in Fannie Lou's win over South Bronx Prep, while Rivera scored 23 points against Brooklyn Tech. If there are any D-2 or low D-1 schools looking for some new players they should definitely give a look at Davis and Rivera.
