Random NHL Predictions

After months of waiting, the NHL season is finally here! The 8 month race to the Stanley Cup starts tonight and while this sport or any sport is impossible to predict for anyone I'd thought I throw out 5 predictions I have for the upcoming season!

1. The Carolina Hurricanes will make the playoffs and the New York Islanders are going to miss the playoffs. The Hurricanes defense is fantastic they have a great young core and they solidified their goal tending. The Islanders lost Travis Hamonic, they have some young players but there defense isn't good enough they will take a step back this year.

2. Connor McDavid will win the Art Ross Trophy and Hart Trophy again. This kid is absolutely electric, he skates faster than anyone, he racks up points like it's nothing. He's going to lead this team to great heights this year but he's going to win the MVP.

3. The Chicago Blackhawks are going to struggle. Losing Hossa, Panarin, and Nik Hjalmersson is just going to hurt them. They did add Brandon Saad to play with Jonathan Toews. I still think they are going to make the playoffs but I don't expect anything beyond that.

4. The Tampa Bay Lightning will be the NHL's most improved team points wise. This team is absolutely loaded up front. They also have one of the best young goalies in the league. This team will win the Atlantic Division.

5. The Pittsburgh Penguins will win their third straight Stanley Cup. The only team in the East who can challenge them is the Tampa Bay Lightning and they have a horrible injury history. The Penguins will beat them in 7 games before the play the Nashville Predators in the cup final for the second consecutive year. The Penguins will have the better team and they will beat the Predators in 7 games to 3peat.
