Semi Ojeleye AAC POY?

One of the most underrated players in College Basketball today is SMU Junior Forward Semi Ojeleye. In fact many people might not remember that Ojeleye was a highly regarded recruit coming out of Ottawa High School (Ottawa, Kansas).  Ojeleye was a four year starter for the Cyclones, where he shattered the Kansas all time scoring record, as well as the single season scoring record. Ojeleye finished his high school career leading the cyclones to a perfect 25-0 in which Ottawa won their second state title in school history. Following his high school career Ojeleye committed to Duke where he saw limited action during his short career in Durham. According to Sports Reference he only appeared in 23 games for the Blue Devils averaging around 1.5 points per game.  Midway through his second season at Duke he decided to transfer to SMU where he sat out the remainder of the 2014-2015 season due to NCAA rules. Ojeleye also sat out the 2015-2016 season as Head Coach Larry Brown decided it was best for him to redshirt. This season after nearly a 2 year wait Semi Ojeleye has been the Mustangs and Tim Jankovich's most valuable player averaging 18 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Ojeleye is currently 2nd in the American Conference in points and 4th in Rebounding. Right now if the season ended he and would be just behind Dedric Lawson of Memphis statistically when it comes to conference player of the year. If Ojeyele can keep performing at such a high level then he will have a very good shot at earning AAC player of the year honors.
