Kelsey Plum Headed to Chicago in the Summer?
Now that Elena Della Donne and her troublesome ego has been moved out of the midwest, the Chicago Sky can now look forward to better days ahead, as the Sky will receive the 2nd overall pick from the Mystics in this year's WNBA Draft. Assuming San Antonio doesn't take her at #1, lefty workhorse Kelsey Plum seems to be a no-brainer at this pick. In addition to the #2 pick, the Sky also acquired former UConn center Stefanie Dolson as well as former #7 pick Kahleah Copper from D.C. in last week's trade.
A beautiful young woman who is talented and full of potential, not to mention along with that infectious smile, Plum has seen her production rise each season at the University of Washington, going from a 20.9 scoring average as a freshman in 2013-14 to 31.0 PPG this far this season. In addition to her increased scoring, Plum has also limited her turnovers this year, as she has seen her turnover total decrease from 153 last season to just 59 this season as of Jan. 22 per wikipedia.
A tad undersized at 5'8", among the challenges that could hinder her at the next level would be to keep her weight down as well as to refine her passing skills, as she may be asked to play more point guard. It remains to be seen how or if she will fit next to veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot.
The sky is the limit for Kelsey.
