Crystal Palace FA Cup 4th round away, review

Job done. It looked like City played ok, dominated the ball and the game once they went ahead. That old thing again, we need to go ahead away from home to dominate. If we don't, we struggle. Everton, Leicester, Liverpool, Spurs all spring to mind. We got dominated in them matches and couldn't play their normal way. Unlike the other sides named, they have game plans and know what they are doing. Palace are in a bit of a mess right now. Nothing they cannot sort out but it needs sorting soon. They make a lot of mistakes, make stupid decisions and if they don't sort it out, they could well be relegated. West Ham had a similar month but have started to sort their form out now. We play them next, a difficult match. The FA Cup saw City role them off. If City can score first and score quickly, WHU may hit panic mode like they did in the cup. They missed a sitter for 1-1 and put the pressure back on then City scored from that with gaps everywhere. WHU need to sit back and tighten up or they will get beat. The game could well be 1-1 or even a 2-1 West Ham but it is just as likely for a 4 or 5 nil to City. So we'll see.

For this game, City went ahead with Sterling played through on goal from GJ (what a pass) and Sterling slots home on the counter. Before then, City had a volley saved from Silva, unlucky. Caballero saved very well on target from a shot from Remy I think. Remy also skied a chance later on. Other than that, Palace struggled. Once it went 1-0, the game was done you felt baring a big City mistake. Sane made it 2-0 late on, he found some space, found a shot on the left and put it across the keeper. It was like a Football Manager goal. Yaya added the third very late into injury time. GJ taken out slightly to the left of goal, 25 yards out and Yaya found the corner (just) from the freekick. The keeper got his hand to it and will be disappointed. I am not though. A good, solid win with saves made and a clean sheet. Surely Caballero has to go in net from now on? He asserts confidence, saves and is always improving. Please use him Pep.
