Middlesbrough Away Review
Here we go again. We made Boro look very good when in reality, they were poor and so was City. I thought City did well to recover from going behind twice but with 2 more points dropped, it's getting close for the top 4. Luckily, Arsenal and United dropped points too so we have one game less. Win our next 3 and I think we will be fine for CL next season. But these games are not easy. We steamed Boro in the cup but with them sitting 6 points adrift from safety with 3 to play, we should be showing them why we are a good side. Instead, for one half, the boys never turned up and Negrado took his chance off balance. So poor in defence, it is scary. We need at least 4 defenders in the summer. If this doesn't happen and players like Kolarov are still at CB, Clichy hasn't left and Navas is still a converted RB, we will finish outside of Europe. These players are not good enough at the bottom of the table, never mind in the top 4. Pep needs to sort it out and start being ruthless with the rubbish players, not players that aren't too bad (Yaya, Hart). We have a lot of work to do. Aguero levelled up quite late on, a well worked goal. Chambers from a freekick saw them retake the lead as City never fully cleared. So poor. How bad is Otamendi?? He should be 4th choice CB, Kolarov sold and utilise Stones, Kompany and another CB or 2. 2 if Pep wants 5 at the back (played in this match and it looks bad when you don't have the players to play it). Pep has insisted on changing all the time and it does NOT work. A settled partnership and reliability is a must in the PL. Pellegrini just about understood this last season as we scraped 4th. We did get a cup and CL semi-final. We have flopped this year. I hope for Pep's sake and City's directors that we make top 4 as a season out would be a disaster. It could take the club a few years to recover that (look at Liverpool and United over the last few seasons, so inconsistent). We need to solidify. Attacking isn't a problem. Jesus levelled up another equaliser late on. Aguero looks like he has a knock so Jesus will return up top against Crystal Palace so that should settle the formation back into place. Plus El Magico will be back so no excuses if we don't win. Serious questions will be asked of City's management. We should be going forward, not backwards. We had only an ok season last season and we flew this season and we've slipped since October and been very inconsistent. Sort it out. Rant over. I cannot wait for this season to end. I hope it ends positively like last season. Although City are crawling again. United blew it last season. I don't think they will this season so we need these wins now!!!!!
