David Pastrnak's Suspension is Garbage

Sports are soft now, there's no question about it.  Hockey and football especially used to be brutally violent games.  They have been completely ruined and wussified just like most of America.

The NHL is incredibly bad when it comes to wussification.  There's barely any hitting any more, there's almost no fighting, and the league is overall incredibly soft.  Bruin's forward David Pastrnak has been suspended two games for laying out Ranger's defenseman Dan Girardi.  Girardi was reaching in the air for the puck and not paying attention when Pastrnak absolutely leveled him.  Here is the hit.

Pastrnak got a 2 minute penalty, but even that was BS.  This was a great hockey hit.  Pastrnak squared Girardi up and drove right through the middle of his body.  Also, his left foot never left the ice until after contact was made.  This was a textbook hit from a player that usually is not physical.  The fact that he got a penalty, let alone suspended for this is absurd.  It's just another example of how pathetic and soft hockey has gotten.  It's ruined, absolutely ruined.  The games are borderline unwatchable now.  There is zero physicality and zero emotion in 99% of the games.  It's a joke compared to how exciting the NHL used to be.  The only time hockey is exciting anymore is in the playoffs, where we get hits like this and no penalty called.

That is what hockey is supposed to be like on a nightly basis, but now we only get it in the playoffs.  It's pathetic.  Tuesday night, there was another great hit.  Dmitry Kulikov absolutely wrecked Jakub Voracek.  Again, this was a great hockey hit, but a penalty was called for some reason.  Here is the video.

Thankfully, Kulikov was not suspended for this hit.  I would've blown my top.  This was such a great hit.  It's not Kulikov's fault he's taller than Voracek, or that Voracek was watching his pass and skating through the middle of the ice with his head down like an idiot.  It was a great hit and shouldn't have been penalized.

I'm just so sick of the wussification of sports.  Yeah, concussions are bad, we all know that now.  The players know the risk and play anyway.  I would take a million of those hits to play in the NHL.  Neither of the players that got hit even got hurt.  Both Girardi and Voracek returned to the game.  Hockey is violent, that's just the way it is.  Get over it.  Making it a wussy sport is just pissing off the fan base, and eventually people are going to turn it off.
