Second Half Predictions
The official second half of the season is upon us. Some teams will buy, other teams will sell, and some teams stay pat. I have a few predictions for the second half and the postseason.
1. The San Francisco Giants finish with their worst record in franchise history. They end up trading several of their soon-to-be free agent players. Their final record: 58-104. They finish with the worst record in the majors, "besting" Philadelphia, who goes on a late-season tear and avoids the #1 pick.
2. The Dodgers trade for a left-handed reliever. After careful consideration, they stay away from Zach Britton due to his injury issues. Rather, they trade Alex Verdugo and a couple of other prospects to San Diego to acquire Brad Hand.
3. The Red Sox hold off the surging Tampa Bay Rays to win the AL East.
4. The Brewers trade for a starting pitcher and clinch the NL Central in the last week of the season.
5. Tim Tebow will make his MLB debut for the Mets in early September. He will hit a home run before the season is over.
6. Aaron Judge makes a run at a Triple Crown but falls short in the average department. Jose Altuve ends up winning the batting title.
7. Clayton Kershaw makes a run at 30 wins but falls short at 28-3 with a loss and no-decision in his final two starts.
8. Alex Wood stays unbeaten clear into mid-September but finally loses a game. He finishes the season at 20-1 for the best single-season win percentage in MLB history.
9. With a very favorable schedule, the Dodgers make a run at Seattle's MLB-record of 116 wins but fall short at 114 wins. They finish 114-48 and the best record in baseball. The Astros finish 112-50.
10. The Dodgers win their first World Series since 1988, beating Cleveland 4 games to 2.
