Early Super Bowl Prediction

Both the Falcons and the Patriots put on an offensive show this past Sunday which begs the question, which of their defenses is worse? Everyone knows the saying, "defense wins championships" as seen in the 2014 Super Bowl between the high powered Denver offense and the bone crushing defense of the Seattle Seahawks. A lot can happen between victory Monday and Super Bowl Sunday, February 5th so it is very early to decide a winner but we will give you our prediction.

Matt Ryan has made an excellent case for this season's MVP, he is just shy of 5,000 passing yards and has thrown 38 touchdowns. Ryan has multiple weapons at his disposal including the dual threat running back pairing of Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman, who are just as dangerous running the ball as catching it. All football fans know how threatening Julio Jones is, Jones has had an okay season, but despite his average numbers, he still has the potential to go off for big numbers as seen in week four against the Panthers where he compiled 300 total receiving yards. The achilles heel to this unstoppable offensive team is their defense, the Falcons defense gives up the 6th most points per game. The reason they are successful is their ability to out shoot their opponents. Unfortunately, the Patriots are just as capable as the Falcons in terms of ability to put up big numbers on offense.

Once again, the Patriots have returned to the Super Bowl and Tom Brady has a chance to earn his 5th Super Bowl ring. Brady missed the first four games of the season but had he not, he would, without a doubt, be a top contender along with Matt Ryan for MVP. A lot of players have stepped up for the Patriots on the offense this season including, Chris Hogan, James White, and LaGarrette Blount. The Patriots defense is much better than the Falcons' which is going to be a the biggest factor when looking at the two teams. The one issue is, they don't have any lockdown corners to guard Julio Jones who can easily win the game for the Falcons alone.

Prediction: Patriots 31 Falcons 24

Super Bowl MVP: Tom Brady or Chris Hogan
