All the Upsets... especially Dabo

History has been made this weekend in more than one sport; in the College Football universe, three of the top four teams lost in the same night for the first time since 1985, and for the first time in UFC History, one fighter has held the belt for two different weight classes—Conor McGregor with the Featherweight and Lightweight championship belts, in a short match against Eddie Alvarez.

Now to the good stuff, College Football Weekly with Jake Caldwell.

A lot of things to talk about this week let’s start off with #1

#1, The Tide Keeps Rolling, Alabama rolls over Mississippi State with a big blowout game 51-3 in Bryant-Denny Stadium and with an Auburn loss to Georgia they clinch the SEC West, and await to see their East rivals in the SEC Championship game.

#2, Well, Who Really IS #2 Now? A lot of speculation has gone around about who will fill the 2, 3, and 4 spots now that Washington, Clemson, and Michigan have fallen. I say Western Michigan; I mean why not? At this point with everyone falling they COULD enter the playoff. In all seriousness, the best way to go would probably be Ohio State, Louisville, and a big speculation over #4. There are too many teams almost, that are in contention for the #4 spot. We have a 2-loss Wisconsin with losses to none other than Ohio State and Michigan. We have 2-loss Oklahoma who is on fire lately and looks like they could take the Big XII, if they can get past the other Big XII Giant, West Virginia. West Virginia has one loss to the second-best team in the Big XII, Oklahoma State. The two teams play each other this weekend and should suit up for probably the best game this weekend. Then finally we have 2-loss Penn State. I am rooting for these guys, the comeback team of the decade, and possibly the century if they make the Playoff. They’ve lost to Pitt (who just beat #2 Clemson) and Michigan. If these guys make it to the Playoff, it would be the best Penn State team in years.

#3, Undefeated Who? So now that we have one undefeated team, what does that mean for Clemson, Washington, and Michigan? Well, Washington was the only team who’s lost to a ranked team, #20 USC. I imagine they won’t drop below the top 10, and will still be in contention for the playoff, despite their weak schedule. Clemson and Michigan on the other hand, both lost to unranked, 5-4 teams in their conferences; Pittsburgh and Iowa. In my opinion, losing to either of these teams this late in the season disqualifies you from the playoff and you drop below the top 10. Yet they’re still in the talks for being in the playoff. Neither of these teams should have lost this weekend, and Clemson’s luck they’ve had all year has just finally run out.

#4, The Best Conference? SEC c’mon. It is without a doubt that the SEC is the best conference, and the most competitive right now. Still having 5 teams in the top 25, and it’s the most up-in-the-air conference (arguably). Alabama has definitely clinched the West, but the East is what is the wildest this year around. Tennessee, who had fallen off the face of the planet, is back in the competition for the East against Florida. Who would’ve thought? Florida has very tough games left, they’ve got LSU this weekend in Baton Rouge, and FSU in Tallahassee. Tennessee has Missouri and Vanderbilt in Nashville. Georgia has University of Louisiana-Lafayette and Georgia Tech. Kentucky has 0-10 Austin Peay, and Louisville to end the season. The East is way up-for-grabs and is too close to call but if Florida wins or Tennessee loses, the Gators and the Tide will meet in Georgia once again for the SEC Championship.

#5, So um, B1G? We don’t have any idea what to expect from the Big 10 the rest of this season, there are a number of possibilities that can happen, but the biggest is either Penn State or Michigan will go to the B1G Championship and be a highly talked-up team to be put in the College Football Playoff. The B1G will most likely be the b1g-gest (pun intended) conversation starter when talking playoffs.
