Belgium Falls United States

With zero goals in regular time, this was not the finish anyone expected.

Belgium scored two goals in the extra time, and the US scored one at 107' that marked the end of the scoring barrage.

Kevin de Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku scored the Belgium sides' goals, while Julian Green converted for the USA.

Late substitution Chris Wondolowski had a one-on-one chance vs. the Swiss goalie after a redirected header landed on his foot, but he failed to convert, his shot flying over the crossbar. Had he converted, the US would have survived in regular time.

During the entire match, Tim Howard was under attack (the Belgians had a ridiculous amount of shots on goal), and it was a miracle/testament to his abilities that the US remained in the game scoreless.

It was a dramatic loss, but the fact that the US made it to this stage will definitely help grow soccer (or football) in America.
