Clipper Curse

Last night the Clippers defeated the Jazz in Salt Lake City to claim a 2-1 series lead. Their exhilaration quickly tuned to devastation as it was announced this morning that their star power forward, Blake Griffin, would miss the remainder of the postseason with a toe injury. If you feel like you have heard this story before, it's because you have. Last year in the playoffs, Griffin tore his meniscus which put him on the shelf and in that same game All-Star teammate Chris Paul broke his hand. Two years in a row the Clippers championship aspirations were for naught. Doc Rivers and company simply cannot catch a break.

This was supposed to be the year that we found out what the Clippers could be when their core was healthy. Now, it is up to Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan to right the ship. They can beat the Jazz, especially with Gobert out, but in the next round when they square off with the Warriors, they will not have a fighter's chance without their red-headed high-flyer. In a year in which Chris Paul is set to be a free-agent, don't be surprised to see Blake Griffin dealt this offseason. The Clippers ran it back this year after being decimated by injuries last season, but I would be shocked if they elected to do so again.
