College Football Playoff Prediction

It feels like this might be the final year in which only four teams make the College Football Playoff. Expansion has been inevitable and it feels like now is the time to do so. With that said, here is how I see the National Semifinals and Championship unfolding.

Cotton Bowl: (3) Notre Dame vs. (2) Clemson. The Fighting Irish will be severely overmatched in this game. Brian Kelly has done a terrific job in South Bend, but he just doesn’t have the horses to keep this game close. Despite Clemson relying on a true freshman quarterback, I like the Tigers big. Clemson 34, Notre Dame 16.

Orange Bowl: (4) Oklahoma vs. (1) Alabama. I would love to see Kyler Murray shred the Crimson Tide defense, but it’s not going to happen. Bama is too tough, too talented, and too disciplined to be stymied by the Sooners. Tua will be healthy and their offense will go through Oklahoma like a hot knife through butter. Alabama 41, Oklahoma 24.

National Championship: (2) Clemson vs. (1) Alabama. For the third time in four seasons, Dabo Swinney’s squad will take the field against Nick Saban’s unit for the national title. The Tigers defensive line will surely cause problems for the Tide’s offense, but this rubber match will be won by Alabama. As I said before, they’re just too tough, talented, and disciplined not to claim the crown. Alabama 33, Clemson 24.
