Four Steals from NFL Draft's Second Day

Rounds 2 and 3 of the 2017 NFL Draft are now in the books. There were several eye-opening selections- including the Bengals selecting former Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon, amid the cloud of controversy that has been hovering over him since he threw the infamous punch.

Here are four steals from Day 2 of the NFL Draft:

#36 overall- Arizona Cardinals: Budda Baker, Safety, Washington .... Budda Baker was an All-American last season. He is a hard-nosed safety, who I believe is almost as good as Jamal Adams, whom the Jets took 6th overall. Getting a player of that caliber in the second round is a steal. Baker and Patrick Peterson in the Cardinal's secondary has the chance to be absolutely lethal.

#41 overall - Minnesota Vikings: Dalvin Cook, Running Back, Florida State .... If not for some off the field concerns, Cook would have come off the board in the first round. The former Seminole will have some large shoes to fill in replacing Adrian Peterson, but he is capable. I think he has a chance to win the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year Award based on his undeniable talent as well as his superb fit in the Viking's offense.

#67 overall - New Orleans Saints: Alvin Kamara, Running Back Tennessee .....The value of this third round selection by Sean Payton and company is tremendous. I view Kamara as a Christian McCaffrey-lite. He can catch the ball out of the backfield, run between the tackles, and even return kicks and punts. Saints fans might be reminded of Reggie Bush. In a backfield that already has Mark Ingram and now Adrian Peterson, Drew Brees was gifted with yet another weapon.

#92 overall - Dallas Cowboys: Jourdan Lewis, Cornerback, Michigan ..... Lewis was a projected first round pick at seasons end. He fell throughout the draft process. I am always a bit skeptical when that happens because the actual football being played becomes valued less, in favor of tests and measurements that do not necessarily translate to or limit NFL success. Lewis was on par with teammate Jabrill Peppers in terms of NFL potential, yet was selected almost 70 picks later. I think the Cowboys got a steal and a high-caliber starter for years to come.
