"Good Bets" for Week 2

If I were a betting man, which I’m not, I would feel very comfortable putting money on these three games on NFL slate this weekend. Here are my “good bets” for Week 2.

1.Jets (+14) at Raiders. Rarely, if ever, is there such a talent disparity in the NFL that a two-touchdown spread is warranted. The Raiders are good and the Jets are bad. That’s a fact, but two touchdowns better? I don’t think so. Give me the Jets. They won’t win, but they will certainly cover.

2. Vikings (+7) at Steelers. It honestly wouldn’t shock me if either of these teams wound up in the Super Bowl. If this game was in Minnesota I would have this game as close to a pick ‘em. Home-field certainly isn’t worth 7 points to the Steelers. Give me the Vikings to not only cover, but to win outright.

3.Dolphins (+4) at Chargers. We don’t know how Jay Cutler and the Dolphins will look as they had their Week 1 game postponed due to Irma, but they have been in California preparing for the Chargers since Friday night. With Los Angeles (I almost said San Diego!) coming off of a short week after playing on Monday night in Denver they will likely be a bit sluggish compared to their opposition. I am not certain Miami wins, but they definitely will keep it close. Give me Miami covering against the Chargers.
