NBA Finals Preview

The NBA Finals are a week away, but the anticipation is already building. The Warriors will square off with the Cavaliers for the third year in a row. LeBron will look to bring Cleveland its second straight championship, while Steph Curry and the Warriors will look to bring a second title in three years to the Bay.

On paper, the Warriors are the heavy favorites. They possess a vast array of weapons offensively and with the addition of Kevin Durant, they are virtually unstoppable, as their 12-0 record this postseason would indicate.

I think what is different from this matchup as opposed to the past two years is that the most pressure in this series is not on LeBron. In both past series, it was on LeBron's shoulders to deliver Cleveland a championship. Now that he has done that, I expect him to play looser than in the past, which is frightening considering the historic numbers he posted in both 2015 and 2016.

All of the pressure in relation to the 2017 NBA Finals rest on the shoulders of Kevin Durant. He decided to join the Warriors because he thought a championship would follow. It is incumbent upon him to deliver. If he cannot, the criticism will be worse than LeBron in 2011 when he floundered against Dallas. By going to Golden State, KD virtually guaranteed himself a title, so if he fails to deliver when the lights are brightest, he will be solely to blame for the Warriors failure.

So far, this postseason I am 12 for 14 in predicting series. In picking this series I am going to go with my head and not my heart. While I desperately want to see LeBron win another ring and inch closer to MJ, i just don't see it happening. Despite his greatness, the Warriors are just too potent. I expect the Warriors to take home the title in 6 games.
