Some NFL Thoughts After Week 4

Jared Goff is more than a system quarterback. After his rookie season, I was convinced that Jared Goff was a bust; that the Rams would never live down selecting him ahead of Carson Wentz. It appeared to be the type of mistake that sets a franchise back a decade. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Under Sean McVay’s tutelage, Goff has transformed himself into as dangerous of a vertical passer as there is in the entire league.

The Bears are legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Mitchell Trubisky leaves a lot to be desired for certain, but Chicago’s defense is as dominating of a unit as the NFL has. Forget Defensive Player of the Year, Khalil Mack is making a case to be the MVP this season. Through four games, he has five sacks, four forced fumbles, and a pick-six, while the Bears have surrendered just a shade over sixteen points a contest.

The Patriots are going to be just fine. There was a sense of panic last week when Brady and Belichick went to Detroit and got steamrolled by the Lions. I am not saying that the Patriots defeat last week should be ignored, but so long as New England plays in the AFC East and Tom Brady is at the helm, I will not panic when the Pats struggle in September.
