UConn Goes for 100 in a Row

The UConn Women's Basketball team, led by Head Coach Geno Auriemma, will win their 100th consecutive game tonight. Yes, you read that correctly. The last time they lost a game was November 17, 2014, which was 820 days ago for those counting. And the last time the Huskies lost in regulation was March 12, 2013 (1,434 days ago). This unprecedented streak begs the question: Is such dominance good for women's basketball?

Hell yes. I am talking about Women's Basketball in early February. Without such a streak, the Women's game gets ignored. That's just the truth. Just like the Patriots prolonged dynasty is good for the NFL, and the Warriors winning 73 games in a season is good for the NBA, UConn's triple-digit win streak is great for Women's Basketball. Whether you're rooting for them to lose or hoping their streak continues, you're watching, and that's a whole lot better than the alternative.
