Upset Alert!

College Basketball tipped off last night. We are a long ways from March Madness, but I am already anticipating a major upset tomorrow afternoon in Lexington, Kentucky. I am picking the Vermont Catamounts to go into Rupp Arena and upset the fifth-ranked Kentucky Wildcats. There are three reasons why I am so confident that the Vermont with dethrone Kentucky.

1. Trae Bell-Haynes is a stud. The reigning America East Conference player of the year is seeking a big stage and he will be provided just that Sunday afternoon in front of nearly 25,000 giddy fans in blue. I expect the senior talent to respond in a big way.

2. This Vermont team is seasoned. Coming off of a 29-win season and a 13-seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Catamounts will be fearless against Kentucky. A veteran roster primed with experience and absolutely nothing to lose; I am not sure there is a more frightening combination for John Calipari and company.

3.Kentucky, as they do every year, find themselves loaded with talented freshman. It takes time for even the most elite athletes to acclimate to the collegiate game. While the Wildcats are supremely gifted, I can’t envision them all being on the same page in what will be one of their first times playing under the lights. All of this is not to mention Kentucky has Tuesday night circled on their calendars as they play against the Kansas Jayhawks in a showcase at the United Center in Chicago. Might they be overlooking Vermont?

You heard it here first. Vermont will go into Rupp Arena and shock the Kentucky Wildcats.
