Final Seven Round Mock Draft Ahead of Tonight's first pick

With Draft Day tonight, below is my final 2017 Mock Draft. Analysis is provided for first round picks only. Note: An online Simulator made each pick.

1: R1P1 EDGE MYLES GARRETT-CLEVELAND BROWNS

Analysis: Various reports suggest that the Browns Front Office is divided as to who they should take with the First Overall Pick. Head Coach Hue Jackson wants North Carolina Quarterback Mitch Trubisky, whereas the Front Office would like to draft Myles Garrett. The Browns go with Garrett first overall because he gives them more experience and a little extra something than Trubisky.

2:R1P2 DL JONATHAN ALLEN-SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

Analysis: Even after having selected two Defensive Lineman in the 2015 (Erik Armstead) and 2016 (Deforest Buckner) Drafts, new 49ers General Manager decides to select Defensive Lineman Jonathan Allen simply because he is the best player available. Playing Allen in the middle would allow for the 49ers Defense to stop some of the Running Backs that the 49ers Defense has to match up against twice a year. Eddie Lacy anyone? While a Quarterback may be considered, the 49ers Front Office is keeping its options open for a possible trade down as well, so nobody has a real idea of what will happen.

3:R1P3 QB DESHAUN WATSON-CHICAGO BEARS

Analysis: Chicago General Manager Ryan Pace has stated in various press conferences that he values experience, a winner, and a leader in his search for his next Quarterback. Clemson Quarterback Deshaun Watson fits everything that Ryan Pace is looking for.

4:R1P4 RB LEONARD FOURNETTE-JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

Analysis: The Jaguars are entering a make or break year on the Offensive side of the ball. They’ve got a decent group of Wide Receivers, but their backfield could use some work. Leonard Fournette would make a great replacement for Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon. He’d also take the pressure off of Blake Bortles. By the way, Team President Tom Coughlin loves physical runners like Fournette, he had Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs in New York.

5:R1P5 S JAMAL ADAMS-TENNESSEE TITANS

Analysis: Yes, the Titans signed Cornerback Logan Ryan in Free Agency, but how about taking full advantage of that trade they made with the Rams last year and adding LSU Safety Jamal Adams? Easily considered to be the best Safety in this years draft, Adams could help propel the Titans into the Playoffs within the next year or so.

6:R1P6 CB MARSHON LATTIMORE-NEW YORK JETS

Analysis: I don’t know what to say about the Jets. They signed the 37 year old Quarterback Josh McCown to a contract, they don’t appear to have a clear cut solution as to who they’re Quarterback should be, and they also are reportedly interested in North Carolina Quarterback Mitch Trubisky. So here, the select Ohio State Quarterback Marshon Lattimore, as a way of adding a piece to their Secondary, while they try to figure the rest of the roster out. Also, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported that the Jets have already brought in Lattimore for a predraft visit.

7: R1P7 WR COREY DAVIS-LA CHARGERS

Analysis: The Chargers take Davis in order to give Phillip Rivers another target to throw to, while also helping out Tight End Hunter Henry and Running Back Melvin Gordon.

8: R1P8 S MALIK HOOKER-CAROLINA PANTHERS

Analysis: After cutting Star Cornerback Josh Norman in 2015, the Panthers decided to draft three cornerbacks last year as eventual replacements. The Middle of the Defense is set with a dominant linebacking corps, as is the pass rush. Selecting Ohio State Safety Malik Hooker in order to add on to what is a young and rising Secondary.

9: R1P9 EDGE HAASON REDDICK-CINCINNATI BENGALS

Analysis: People were surprised last year when the Chicago Bears selected Linebacker Leonard Floyd in this spot. The Bengals do the same because they want to add to someone with high athleticism to their Defense. He could most probably be the next coming of Carlos Dunlap.

10: R1P10 TE O.J. HOWARD-BUFFALO BILLS

Analysis: Howard would provide a massive upgrade for the Bills in the middle of the field, as well as another target for Tyrod Taylor. Imagine what Howard and Sammy Watkins could do if they were both healthy, not to leave out Lesean McCoy.

11: R1P11 EDGE SOLOMON THOMAS-NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Analysis: Sean Payton quietly continues his rapid rebuild of the Saints Defense. They take Solomon Thomas here because he’s got a high motor and has been rising up teams draft boards. In a division with Matt Ryan, Jameis Winston, and Cam Newton, adding to the pass rush would allow for someone to get after all of those three Quarterbacks.

12: R1P12 QB MITCH TRUBISKY-CLEVELAND BROWNS

Analysis: As I mentioned with the first overall pick, the Browns front office is divided with whom to take. The Front Office Wants Myles Garrett, whereas Hue Jackson wants Trubisky. If Trubisky is on the board when the Browns pick again, look for them to get Trubisky.

13:R1P13 WR MIKE WILLIAMS-ARIZONA CARDINALS

Analysis: Larry Fitzgerald won’t be young forever, so why not go ahead and draft his successor in Clemson Wide Receiver Mike Williams. Although they also need a Quarterback, that could be addressed in a later round. Williams is a big, physical receiver who is just what this franchise needs while also searching for its next Quarterback.

14:R1P14 RB CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY-PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Analysis: Imagine an explosive offense led by Carson Wentz, Wide Receivers Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith, and dynamic playmaker Christian McCaffrey. That would make an opponents so much trouble. If McCaffrey is on the board, the Eagles should select him, just because he fits everything that they are looking for.

15:R1P15 CB MARLON HUMPHREY-INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

Analysis: The Colts have pieces on Offense, but their Defense is lacking. Cornerback Vontae Davis has to cover guys like Deandre Hopkins twice a year. Insert Cornerback Marlon Humphrey into the equation and you’ve got two good cornerbacks. Rebuild the Defense and bring in Humphrey, someone who will be the leader for years to come.

16:R1P16 LB REUBEN FOSTER-BALTIMORE RAVENS

Analysis: Goodbye Elvis Dumervil, hello Reuben Foster. Foster would give the Ravens an explosive, speedy athlete that would put offenses on notice. He’s been compared to NFL Linebacker Bobby Wagner, so why pass on him?

17: R1P17 LB ZACH CUNNINGHAM-WASHINGTON REDSKINS

Analysis: Why not take Zach Cunningham? While some would say a deep threat wide receiver would be the best pick here to replace Desean Jackson or Pierre Garcon. Cunningham is a playmaker all over the field, with the ability to make and recover turnovers. At this spot, he seems to valuable for the Redskins to pass up on. The Redskins play in what is perhaps the toughest division in the NFL. They have pieces on offense, but the Defense needs a few more guys in the middle.

18: R1P18 CB GAREON CONLEY-TENNESSEE TITANS

Analysis: With a second first round pick, the Titans add more to their secondary. Gareon Conley would give the Titans an explosive fast corner. He’s got the ability to keep his hips to the outside in order to breakup several passes and comes out of nowhere to take the ball away and create more opportunities for his offense.

19: R1P19 TE DAVID NJOKU-TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

Analysis: After releasing Austin-Seferian Jenkins due to a DUI Arrest last season, the Bucs decide to draft Njoku as his replacement. It’s a perfect fit for the Tampa Bay Offense. You’ve got Wide Receiver Desean Jackson as a deep threat, a decent Running Back in Doug Martin, and a big, physical receiver in Mike Evans. Imagine what the Bucs could do with the Offensive pieces they have after drafting Njoku.

20: R1P20 OT CAM ROBINSON-DENVER BRONCOS

Analysis: Cam Robinson is quite a complicated pick. By some he’s considered to be a top five draft pick, by others, he’s considered to be a mid to late first round draft choice. If he falls as far as number number twenty, Denver should go after him considering that they need a good Offensive Tackle to protect their Quarterback for years to come.

21: R1P21 DL MALIK MCDOWELL-DETROIT LIONS

Analysis: Why not add someone like Mcdowell to the Lions Front Four? He’s long and can disrupt the Offensive Line. Even after selecting A’shawn Robinson last year, the Lions should select Mcdowell as they continue to challenge the Packers for the division title.

22: R1P22 EDGE TACO CHARLTON-MIAMI DOLPHINS

Analysis: Miami decided to beef up its Front Seven by selecting Charlton. Some say that he hasn’t even reached his full potential yet. Could playing alongside someone like Ndamukong Suh help Charlton realize his full potential?

23: R1P23 OT FORREST LAMP-NEW YORK GIANTS

Analysis: The Giants are set on Defense, but now it comes down to what their Offense needs. The G-men are reaching the twilight years of the Eli Manning Era and are looking to make one last Superbowl run. By taking Forrest Lamp, the Giants get a good bargain: They get someone who can protect Eli Manning for the last few years and also get someone who can protect their future Quarterback.

24: R1P24 S JABRILL PEPPERS-OAKLAND RAIDERS

Analysis: Really complicated pick here. Peppers played all over the place while at Michigan, so after the season, he was all over draft boards. Because Peppers is listed as both a Linebacker and Defensive Back, he could play all over the Raiders Defense, and have an impact.

25: R1P25 OT GARETT BOLLES-HOUSTON TEXANS

Analysis:I don’t know who is the starting Quarterback in Houston next season. Tom Savage or someone else, Houston should find someone to help protect that guy. Boles may be twenty-five, but if he’s healthy, he may instantly become a 10 year starter.

26: R1P26 OT RYAN RAMCZYK-SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Analysis: All I will say is with the addition of Eddie Lacy as their new Running Back, Seattle selects someone who can open running lanes for him.

27: R1P27 QB DESHONE KIZER-KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Analysis: Alex Smith, I’m sorry, but you’re not the answer to bringing a Lombardi Trophy home to Kansas City. According to Spotrac, Smith is signed through 2019, Kansas City could draft his eventual replacement and decide to let Notre Dame Quarterback Deshone Kizer sit for a year to two while Smith finishes out his career.

28: R1P28 EDGE TAKKARIST MCKINLEY-DALLAS COWBOYS

Analysis: Dallas is pretty much set on Offense with Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott leading the way, but the Defense, the pass rush in particular needs to be retooled. Even after selecting Randy Gregory in 2015, adding UCLA Edge Rusher Takkarist Mckinley would give the Cowboys someone who doesn’t stop on the field. After watching some tape on him, it’s safe to say that he really gives the Offensive Lineman that he’s covering a hard time and rarely let’s him take a breath.

29: R1P29 RB DALVIN COOK-GREEN BAY PACKERS

Analysis: Packers General Manager Ted Thompson isn’t known for taking players with off field issues, but Florida State Running Back Dalvin Cook could be too valuable for him to pass up on. With former Running Back Eddie Lacy now in Seattle, Cook would provide the newly converted Wide Receiver Ty Montgomery with a partner in crime in the backfield.

30: R1P30 EDGE DEREK BARNETT-PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Analysis: What would Derek Barnett bring to the Steelers? He’s got so much energy, plays with a high motor, and is tough and smart. Those are all characteristics that Head Coach Mike Tomlin looks for. Considering that the Steelers are still rebuilding their Defense, Barnett would be a perfect fit to jumpstart a rebuild of their Defensive Line.

31: R1P31 CB QUINCY WILSON-ATLANTA FALCONS

Analysis: Does Atlanta select a Pass Rusher here or go with someone like Quincy Wilson. The Falcons have no need for Cornerbacks but should select one if they can. The biggest reason being is that the Secondary was picked apart in their Superbowl collapse and needs to add more playmakers to prevent that from happening again.

32: R1P32 LB JARRAD DAVIS-NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Analysis: With a second first round pick, Sean Payton chooses to go defense again and select Florida Linebacker Jarrad Davis. The Saints need all the help they can get on the Defensive Side of the ball and Davis will provide leadership and valuable production for years to come.
