Packers Sign Darrell Green; Pankey Activated to Roster

Milwaukee, WI --- The Release of defensive back LaDarius Gunter was to make room for the return of receiver Geronimo Allison. But the release of defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois had some scratching their heads.

Turns out it was for the activation of rookie offensive guard/tackle Adam Pankey out of West Virginia, whom the Packers signed as an undrafted free agent this offseason.

The offensive line, without their starting right tackle Bryan Bulaga, struggled, surrendering all four of their sacks in the first half of their season opener. They redeemed themselves by giving up none in the second half.

The Packers then signed offensive lineman Darrell Greene to the practice squad. Greene spent the previous season on the Eagles' practice squad after being signed as an undrafted rookie in May 2016. He was on the active roster during training camp before being put back on the practice squad at the start of the season.

The sense of urgency at offensive line came when backup Don Barclay was put on injured reserve.
