What do the Cavs do now?

As the confetti fell in a shower of gold and blue, Lebron James walked off the court gave a hand shake to Kyrie Irving and walked into the locker room. Clearly this was not the finish the Cavs were looking for. It begs the question as to what's next?

Cleveland has talent, when they added Korver, Williams and Bogut to a team that already had the likes of Irving and Love with James they were supposed to be able to compete with Golden State. Unfortunately the highest pay roll in NBA history could not get it done, and the warriors made it look easy.

Looking ahead to the 2018 season, the Cavs have some choices to make, but the first step should be to re-sign their GM David Griffin who helped get this team that Lebron wanted.

Even if it cannot beat the Warriors they still need to add pieces, but who do you get? Sure you can get Carmelo, but the team needs help on defense not just offense. Carmelo will help you score, but won't defend anyone.

They could kick the tires on Paul George but it's public knowledge he wants to be a Laker and odds are wouldn't sign an extension to stay in Cleveland. They could also try for Jimmy Butler depending on what his situation could turn out to be And rumors are that Demarcus Cousins could be on the block if he won't resign to stay in New Orleans.

Also to get George or Butler, who would the Cavs have to give up? It would most likely have to be Love or Irving both would be incredibly risky moves, but the Cavs who are in salary cap hell need to make a move to shake things up.

Lebron will be 33 soon and the clock is ticking. If he wants to ever be the GOAT, something needs to happen.
