The Knicks are a complete embarrassment

For the second time in five days the Knicks lost to the Brooklyn Nets while allowing at least 120 points. The now 13-54 Nets got their first road win of the season against an eastern conference team with a 121-110 victory. The Knicks are also the only team they have beaten more than once all season which might be even worse than going 11-29 since Christmas. After not winning back to back games since December 22 the Knicks probably blew the best chance they'll get to snap that streak for the rest of the season.

It goes without saying, but tonight was a complete embarrassment for this franchise. I know they are better off losing the rest of the season to get a high draft pick but this loss was unacceptable. After holding the playoff bound Pacers to 81 points in Tuesday's win the Knicks bounced back with a pathetic performance against the worst team in basketball.

It's almost unheard of to see a team continue to lose every game following a win for three straight months. That's how terribly inconsistent this team has been. The effort is awful and the will to win is nonexistent. Phil Jackson should apologize to the fans for how disappointing this team has been and how embarrassing tonight's performance was. They continue to show up and sell out the Garden every night only to see such a dreadful product.

When you look at the rosters the Nets shouldn't even be in the same gym as this Knicks roster based on talent alone, but you don't win games simply with talent. The Nets might stink, but they play hard every single night because every guy on that roster has something to prove and is playing for a job next season. With the Knicks everyone seems content with finishing off the season the same way they played the last three months. After suffering a terrible loss on Sunday night you would think this team would be desperate for revenge against a crappy Nets team, but that was not the case at all. It seems like there is no urgency to get better and try to build some confidence towards next year.

On the bright side the Knicks are a step closer to a top five pick in a stacked draft. The fan in me would've liked to have seen them finally win two in a row tonight but lose the majority of their remaining games. Most fans are probably happy with tonight's loss, but they shouldn't be when you look at who the opponent was and the effort exhibited by the Knicks. Sure a high draft pick will improve this team in the long run, but the present Knicks did nothing tonight to make you think that good things are on the rise even with a top five pick. Tonight's loss said a lot about the character of this team and this franchise. It feels like the Knicks have hit rock bottom multiple times over the past three months. Tonight was the final straw.
