GAMEDAY PREVIEW: Mens Basketball vs. Williams College Ephs: 11/25/18

By Jack Kirshenbaum

The Macs’ season may have gotten off to a bit of a slow start, but they will look to earn their first win as they take on the Williams College Ephs at 2:00 at the Max Stern Athletic Center. While the Macs’ may be 0-3, their record isn’t a true indication of their performance this year. Their three losses have only been by a combined 7 points.

William’s College might be the Macs’ toughest opponent yet. The Ephs are not only 3-0, but they’ve boasted double digit victories in each game. Starting power forward James Heskett could be one of the most dominating players the Macs’ face all year. The 6”8 big man doesn’t just score his 16 points per game by dominating around the rim, he also manages to make 3 threes a game while shooting over 46% from behind the arc.

After Gabe Leifer injured his ankle during last game’s loss, fans had no clue if his injury would have long term effects. Thankfully, Leifer will be playing today. “Thank God it was mostly a scare,” Leifer told us. “As the days went on, my ankle got much better and I should be close to 100% when we play on Sunday". In other injury news, Sr. Jamie Cappell will still be watching from the sidelines. Justin Hod, on the other hand, is no longer injured, but is still waiting for confirmation from YU’s athletic training staff that he’s cleared to play after suffering a concussion. His status is questionable.

The Macs’ 3 leading scorers, Simcha Halper and Ryan Turell both at 21 PPG, and Gabe Leifer at 18 PPG, will all be active.
