NBA: Can James Harden win MVP?

The Houston Rockets have stumbled out of the gate as they are 2-2 for the season, but James Harden has been playing exceptionally well. With an offensive coach like Mike D'Antoni now running the team, many people expected the Harden and the Rockets to put up great numbers. And so far that is exactly what James Harden is doing. He is leading his team in almost every statistical category and he is definitely reminding people that he is a superstar. But can he win MVP this year?

In the four games played so far, Harden is averaging 32.3 points, 11.8 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game. It doesn't matter if it's a small sample, that's impressive. Especially when he dropped 41 points on the Cleveland Cavaliers last night, who are a great defensive team. Harden keeps up those numbers, it doesn't matter what his teams does he will win the MVP. But about his team though?

Many expected the Houston Rockets to put up numbers offensively, but also expected them to have problems on the defensive end. And they will, which is why they will most likely end up with a lower seed in the Western Conference. Voters typically like to give the MVP award to the players on the top teams and it's hard to imagine the Rockets being a top team.

But like I said before though, if James Harden keeps putting up those numbers he will be the MVP. He may not sustain but I can definitely see him stay close to the numbers he is averaging right now. He may not shoot 48 percent from the field, but he can definitely shoot a high percentage in D'Antoni's offense.

D'Antoni's offense will give James Harden the opportunity to put up numbers and he will put up those numbers. James Harden definitely can win the MVP this season, and even though I have my own different pick for MVP, Harden will definitely put his name out there.
