NBA: Is DeMar DeRozan an MVP candidate?

DeMar DeRozan

The Toronto Raptors are off to a great start to the NBA season and DeMar DeRozan is a big reason why. After recently being ranked the 46th best player in the NBA, DeRozan took that as a shot against him and has been focused all the way through. Is DeMar DeRozan an MVP candidate? The answer is obviously yes and here's a few reasons why.

DeMar DeRozan is putting up numbers

Motivation is always a great fuel and he has nothing but motivation. So far this season, DeRozan is averaging 35.8 points per game along with 5 rebounds. Are you kidding me? Those are great numbers, even though he won't keep it up. He has scored at least 30 points in every game of the season. DeMar DeRozan is a great shooting guard that is putting up numbers and he's making his case for MVP.

Raptors will be a top East team

Outside of the Cavs, the Raptors will be one of the top teams in the East. They are most likely going to be a top three seed and when you add that team success with the numbers that DeRozan is putting up, that's a prime recipe for an MVP. Raptors can win between 50-60 games and that is good enough to get DeRozan consideration.

So can DeMar DeRozan win MVP? You bet! Will he? I'm not too sure. I feel like he will slowly come back to earth during the season but if he averages around 30 points, then he will get it.
