NBA: Why Dwight Howard is being overlooked

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

?The Atlanta Hawks have gotten off to a good start this season as they are 10-5 after tonight's win against the Indiana Pacers. After losing Jeff Teague, many believed that the Hawks would slow down a bit, but so far there are no signs of that and that's thanks in large part of Dwight Howard.

Dwight Howard posted 23 points and 20 rebounds in tonight's win and he's been playing well all season. He's currently averaging 14 points per game to go along with 13 rebounds as well. Is he being overlooked?

Anyone else putting up those numbers would get a great deal of attention, but since it's Dwight Howard it kind of gotten lost in the wind. Howard has gone through his issues with injuries and other alleged problems with teammates and that has hurt his legacy. Many people have given up or forgotten about Howard, but he's still a top center in this league.

Watching him play with the Hawks you can see that he's the most healthiest he's been since his days in Orlando. He's hustling on defense, grabbing rebounds, and blocking shots. He's a huge reason why the Hawks have gotten off to their great start.

Howard is being overlooked and with the emergence of young players like Joel Embiid and Karl Anthony Towns it's understandable, but Howard has a lot to offer still and he will make some noise this year. Just watch and see!
