The Days After Review: The Seattle Seahawks played a glorified skirmish game against the San Francisco 49ers on national television

Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers traveled to Seattle and well to simple put it; they got their Asses handled to them. I thought I was watching the practice squad go up against the starters, but it was a regular season game where the game matters and goes against your record.

Let’s be honest everyone, when Christine Michael broke for that 41 yard touchdown run right up the middle, that’s when I knew the Nines were going to get embarrassed. And that was set within 50 seconds off the game clock in the first quarter. I was surprised that the Seattle offensive line and offense would have their best game of this early season against the Niners, because it was expected. Those who saw that this was the best opportunity to defeat the Seahawks, those individuals’ optimism going into this game were very high. The Niners offense on their first three drives all resulted into three and outs, which consisted of short throws and minimal gains from Carlos Hyde. The drive in which they kicked a field goal in the second quarter off the fumble from Jimmy Graham is going to become a recurring theme for the offense when they are moving the ball. Blaine Gabbert could not throw the ball pass the sticks in situations like on third down’s. It was as if he refused to attempt to throw the ball deep.

The defense was just as bad as the offense. It seemed like Russell Wilson was playing at 100% because he was able to shred the 49ers secondary with ease. Jimmy Graham with 6 receptions totaled for a 100 yards and a touchdown. The big damage from the Seahawks offense came from back up running back Christine Michael, who with two rushing touchdowns got 106 yards from 20 touches. And wide receiver Doug Baldwin who just burned the DB’s for 164 yards, 8 receptions and a touchdown. What’s worse was that they were all big chunk players, which also means the players on defense are getting beat of the line or unable to

Other Thoughts and Takeaways:

- Those two, garbage time rushing touchdowns from Carlos Hyde made fantasy football, but it was embarrassing when he would flex his muscles both times he went into the endzone. I mean c’mon now, you are down the entire game with the decision already sealed before the end of the 1st quarter and are posing. That was sad to see.

- Arik Armstead looked very bad in this game. DeForest Buckner was able to compete on most snaps; Armstead had trouble with his individual assignments in the trenches.

- What I find hilarious is that I am see comments from Niner fans online and those I talk to in person is them all saying something along the line of “Oh man, if Blaine Gabbert can just play like Alex Smith, we would be such a bad team.”

- The Nines next game is against Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and the long time rival Dallas Cowboys. This will be the first regular season game between the two teams at Levis Stadium. If the 49ers win this game, it’ll be that the Cowboys allowed the Niners to defeat them, not the Niners being able to scheme better the Cowboys.
