Darrelle Revis Had A Hell Of A Weekend

Consider this my Flu Game. I'm writing this while incredibly sick, but enough about me. You're here to read about Revis.

I was originally going to write about my offseason plan for the Patriots, but just before I would have began, this Revis news broke. And it's too good to pass up. If you haven't heard, over the past weekend, Darrelle Revis got into an altercation in Pittsburgh. This happened around 2:30 A.M. on Monday morning, and it goes like this: Two guys approached Revis and asked him if he actually was Revis. Revis said yes, and began to walk away. The guys followed him and began to record him on their phones. Revis asked the guys to leave him alone, and a shoving match broke out. Revis then allegedly grabbed a phone away from one of the guys, attempted to delete the recording, and threw it in the street. Revis' buddy came in, and the two guys were punched, though nobody knows who threw the punches. Both of the guys were knocked out, injured and taken to the hospital, and one has some broken bones around his eye. From the source I read, Revis could potentially face a felony if charged for this inci-

Wait a second.

Revis himself claims a different story. Oh boy.

Revis claims that the incident that occurred, which he also says happened around 2:30 A.M. Monday morning, goes like this: He was in Pittsburgh over the weekend to visit his boys back home (my words not his) when he was approached by 5 guys and was assaulted by them. He feared for his safety and retreated from this group, and promptly sought medical attention.

I have no idea what to believe here. The only possible piece of tangible evidence we have is that phone video, and as I said, that might not be true. If this video comes out and we have definitive evidence of Revis knocking out these guys, I'm no law expert but I don't think he gets in trouble with the law here. As for the NFL, that's another story. If I were to guess, I'd say a 6 game suspension if this is true. But we have to remember, this is in the hands of the law, and there's nothing we can do about it now.

EDIT: Approximately 30 minutes after I first posted this, ProFootballTalk said that Revis was facing charges for robbery, terroristic threats, conspiracy, and aggravated assault. This situation keeps getting Wilder. If this is all true, I have no idea what's in store for Revis.

EDIT AGAIN: Darrelle Revis has been charged with all charges I listed above. What this means legally, I don't know. I'm not smart enough to tell you that. What this means for his career however, is that in my opinion, Revis' time with the Jets, and possibly his NFL career, is over.
