Which Region Produces The Best Footballers?

Wouldn't it be interesting if footballers had to play for their local area? Imagine a strong team of Yorkshiremen verses the best Lancashire could offer. We’d have real blood, guts and passion out on there on the field. But which region would eventually win? Who has the strongest pool of local players? Let’s take a look at which region produces the best footballers…

1. Yorkshire

Jointly, Yorkshire produces the best current crop of professional football players. A recent survey, based on Fifa scores, found that Yorkshire had the highest combined scores of skills such as pace, shot accuracy and tackling. The current England international team shows how accurate these stats are, with many of the squad hailing from Yorkshire. Leeds and Barnsley in particular have renowned youth academies. Notable players include the skillful defender John Stones, Fabian Delph and Jamie Vardy.

1. North West

The North West joins Yorkshire at the top of our list. The region has produced Britain's two most successful clubs; Manchester United and Liverpool. Let us not forget their two powerhouse neighbours, Everton and Manchester City. With these huge clubs occupying the region, it’s no wonder they produce many top professional footballers. Current stars developed in the North West include the talented Marcus Rashford, Kieran Trippier and zippy winger, Jesse Lingard.

2. London

The Capital wins the bronze with a fabulous array of skillful professionals. With a large amount of big clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham it's hardly surprising London makes the top three. The current England captain Harry Kane was produced in the area along with current Everton striker, Theo Walcott.

3. South East

The South East loves a bit of football and this is reflected in the amount of professionals they produce. The area has a strong, grass roots, ametuar set up that ensures a steady crop of youngsters year after year. Recent players include Liverpool star, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and striker Danny Ings.

4. West Midlands

When you think of West Midlands football you think of strong rivalry and passionate football. A great wealth of professional clubs including Aston Villa, West Bromwich and Wolves makes the region well known for producing great talents. Prolific Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge and defensive legend Tim Cahill all grew up in the region.

5. East of England

Clubs such as Ipswich and Norwich are among East of England’s top clubs. Year after year the region manages to produce fantastic, international footballers. The coastal area boasts powerhouse forward Connor Wickham and and midfield maestro Adam Lallana as two of it’s recent products.

6. East Midlands

Derby, Nottingham Forest, Leicester… The list of East Midlands football clubs is long and steeped in tradition. It easily takes its place as a top region for producing magnificent footballers. Dele Alli and Ben Childwell have done the area proud in recent years.

7. North East

Football is a religion up in the North East. Fans of Newcastle and Sunderland are known for their complete dedication to their clubs. Despite recent troubles they still flock to the stadiums in droves. Kids grow up on a diet of football up north resulting in many professionals and internationals. Andy Carroll went on to become Liverpool's record signing while Jordan Pickford won English hearts during the 2018 Fifa World Cup.

8. South West

Rounding off our list is the South West. The Bristol clubs and Plymouth Argyle are among the region's top teams.. Eric Dier, the England midfield hard man is the region’s most well known player of recent times.
