Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has spoken about his best-ever goal against Liverpool which still leaves him with ‘goosebumps’.

The Iconic French striker scored one of the best goals in the Premier League era after dancing around several Liverpool players and rolling the ball into the net at Highbury in 2004.

With the Gunners trailing the match 1-0 after a Michael Owen goal, Henry explained why it is his favourite goal and how it still gives him the same reaction when he re-watches it as when he scored the goal.

“When you look at that goal, nothing in it makes sense,” Henry told Sky Sports’ The Football Show.

“Why am I there with Gilberto Silva when the ball is cleared up? I don’t even know why I’m there. All I know is when the ball came I saw the goal. I told you that stadium had a heart but Michael Owen scored before half-time and the heart of that stadium wasn’t going.

“When I watch my goals, I never really get goosebumps but watching this one, I can remember and relive that moment when I felt the heart of the stadium going again. I rarely felt like that, when the heart of the stadium went back beating again.”

When asked to select his favourite goal, he added: “The Liverpool one.

“I always thought that stadium had a heart. That day, I got the confirmation that the stadium had a heart. The goal made that heart go again and breathe. I’m not trying to go over the top but that day I was like ‘yes, that’s what I thought of that stadium and that’s what it is’.”
heart of the stadium
