nXt TakeOver: Wargames II (2018) Results

Before any matches got underway, Matt Riddle made his way to the ring and told the audience that he didn't want to wait until Wednesday to fight Kassius Ohno. He then challenged the veteran to face him then and there. Ohno soon entered the arena and accepted the NXT rookie's challenge.

Match 1 - Matt Riddle vs. Kassius Ohno: With both men in the ring, the referee called for the bell, and Ohno immediately charged Riddle. "The King of Bros" saw Ohno's charge and delivered a flying knee to his opponent. Ohno got hit squarely in his right temple and went down in a heap. Riddle pinned his opponent and scored the victory. The entire match lasted approximately 20 seconds.

Match 2 - Two out of Three Falls for the NXT Women's Championship, Kairi Sane vs. c-Shayna Baszler: The first fall went to Baszler, but she didn't earn it by herself. Marina Shaffir and Jessamyn Duke hit the ring and distracted Sane, and it was enough for the defending champ to put her in the rear naked choke. Knowing two more falls were needed, Sane tapped to the choke rather quickly. The second fall was captured by Sane, and she did it by DDTing Baszler on the ring apron and then landing the Insane Elbow, which resulted in a pinfall. During the final fall, someone in the back was tired of Shaffir and Duke's interference, and they decided to do something about it. That person was Dakota Kai. She fended off Shaffir and Duke for a bit, but the numbers soon caught up with the Team Kick captain. Seconds after, Io Shirai hit the ringside area, and she wiped out everyone on the outside with a moonsault. While all that was happening, Sane had managed to set up Baszler for the Insane Elbow. She jumped off the top rope, but upon landing, she was countered by the "Queen of Spades," whom put her in a crucifix pin and held on for the three-count.

Match 3 - Johnny Gargano vs. Aleister Black: With all of the emotion surrounding this match, everyone knew it was going to be hard hitting. Heck, at times it seemed like a muay thai match was going on rather than a wrestling one. Of course, when the backstory is that of a man, Black, being attacked and left out of a championship match, nothing less was expected. The crowd seemed to be 70-30 in favor of Black, but they still appreciated what Gargano gave them when they broke into chants of "This is awesome" and "Fight forever." In the end, Black finished off "Johnny Wrestling" when he landed Black Mass. However, rather than pin him, Black kept Gargano on his feet, told him that he absolved him of all his sins, and landed a second Black Mass. The pinfall then followed.

Match 4 - NXT Championship, Velveteen Dream vs. c-Tommaso Ciampa: As one would expect, Dream entered this bout in style, decked out as Hollywood Hulk Hogan. He even went as far as putting his hand to his ear to gauge crowd reaction. In fact, during the match, Dream even did the Hogan sequence of whipping his opponent to the ropes, giving them the big boot, and delivering a leg drop. Dream did put his own touch, dropping the leg on Ciampa three times. Later in the match, in what probably got the biggest pop, Dream made it to the top rope and hit the champion with the Purple Rain Maker. Ciampa, however, got his hand up before the three-count. A couple of minutes later, Dream had draped the "Psycho Killer" on the edge of the apron and climbed to the turnbuckle across from his opponent. He attempted a coast-to-coast elbow drop, but Ciampa moved seconds before Dream could land it on him. Holding his elbow as he got off the floor mats, Dream was then pushed into the ring, and Ciampa gave him a DDT on the metal plate acting as a bridge between the two rings. The "Psycho Killer" then covered Dream for the pinfall, retaining his title.

Main Event - WarGames, Undisputed Era vs. War Raiders, North American Champion Ricochet, and NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne: Back on Wednesday night the Undisputed Era won the man-advantage, so until the last man evened things out, Undisputed Era was always going to be a man up. Adam Cole and Ricochet started the match, and they were followed in order by Kyle O'Reilly, Hanson, Roderick Strong, Rowe, Bobby Fish, and Pete Dunne. Everything went as usual until Fish exited the cage for his turn. When he was let out, he grabbed the chain and padlock from the referee's hands and ran straight to Dunne's cage. The UK Champion reached out to grab Fish, but the former Ring of Honor wrestler took a hold of Dunne's arm and pulled him right into the bars of the cage. From there, Fish wrapped the chain around Dunne's cage door, and padlocked it. He then threw the key into an area offstage. Fish hurried to the ring after that, grabbed chairs from beneath it, with UE logos on them, and dispersed them to his teams. The four-man faction took advantage of things soon after. After a couple of minutes, referees appeared from the back with bolt cutters and finally got Dunne out of the cage. The English champion ran to the ring as fast as he could and pulled out his own weapons from underneath it. These weapons were a mix of kendo sticks, aluminum garbage cans, and two tables. As always with these matches, mayhem ensued. The highlights included Fish spearing Rowe through a table, Hanson frog splashing O'Reilly through a table, a tower of doom from the middle of the top rope rather than a turnbuckle, and Ricochet double-rotation moonsaulting onto everyone from the top of the cage. The final moments of the match involved Cole, Dunne, and Ricochet. The leader of Undisputed Era and the UK Champ were having a mini-match, and Cole got the upper hand. Ricochet came from the top rope suddenly, but Cole was able to counter with a superkick. That gave Dunne time to recover and he was back at it with Cole. Eventually, the UK Champ gave Cole the Bitter End, and that was followed up by a 450 splash from Ricochet. The two men soon pinned Cole, and that gave their team the victory. Ricochet and Dunne then continued where they left off before WarGames, eyeing each others titles.
