The Syracuse Orange Men's Basketball Team opened up their 2016-2017 season off on the right track as the #19 ranked Orange took on the Colgate Raiders on Friday night at the Carrier Dome.

The first few minutes of the 1st half looked like a back and forth game for both teams and looked very competitive. But then Syracuse got hot with their 3-point shots, finishing off the half with a 40% three-point percentage while being 56.8% in Field-Goal shot percentage. They were up 49-25 (24 points) at the half.

The Orange did not stop from there in the second half as they continued to outshine Colgate. Jim Boeheim and the Orange went on to get the 83-55 Victory over the Raiders. The Leading Scorers for the Orange were Senior Tyler Roberson with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist while Transfer and Graduate Andrew White III scored 17 points in his first game with the Orange after spending a couple years at Nebraska.

Sophomore Tyler Lydon was shutout in the second half as he only had 2 points which he scored in the 1st half vs Colgate. He was named on the 2017 Naismith Trophy Men's 50 College Player of the Year Preseason Watch List on Thursday based on his performance last season.

The Syracuse Orange Football team, coached by Dino Babers, suffered a 35-20 Loss at Home to NC State in an ACC Matchup on Saturday Afternoon. Junior Quarterback Zack Mahoney got the start in today's game as Sophomore QB Eric Dungey was ruled out due to an upper-body injury he suffered in the 1st half last week at Clemson.

In the start of the 1st half, the Orange looked good on both sides of the field as their Defense made a big stop in NC State's first drive of the game and from this big stop, it gave the offense some momentum as Mahoney and the Orange were able to move the ball down field ending in a 10 yard rushing Touchdown by Running Back Dontae Strickland, putting the Orange up 7-0 through the 1st quarter.

In the second quarter, NC State was able to score 2 rushing touchdowns and Syracuse was held to a Field Goal which NC State lead 14-10 at the half.

In the second half, NC State scored off a Touchdown Pass, 21-10. It looked like the Orange lost their momentum coming out for the second half, but then on the 2nd offensive drive, Zack Mahoney was able to find leading Orange Wide Receiver Amba Etta-Tawo for an 81 yard touchdown which gave the Orange a 4 point deficit as they were down 21-17. The following offensive drive for the Orange ended in a Cole Murphy Field Goal and the Orange were only down by 1 point (21-20).

But the Defense wasn't able to stop NC State's rushing game as Running Back Matthew Dayes had 2 Touchdowns in the next two NC State drives. The Orange fell to 4-6 on the season after a 35-20 loss to NC State and will host ranked Florida State for Senior Day at the Carrier Dome next weekend. If the Orange lose this game, they will be out of bowl contention, if not already after today's loss.
