Grizz Keeps His Belt By Pinning X-Pac (UPDATED)
((HT: ESPN 92-9 Memphis))
The HQ isn't quite sure WHAT to call this one...
The Memphis Grizzles mascot, affectionately known as "Grizz" has a wrestling title belt for his time in Memphis. And, given the chance, he does the occasional crazy spot to keep his title...
Last night in Memphis, X-Pac (Sean Waltman) was the contender... and here's the finish to get Grizz over one more time...

Agreed... X-Pac got Grizz over... for a really good reason...
SUNDAY UPDATE: Geoff Calkins over at the Memphis Commercial Appeal gives us the background on the Wrestling Nights in Memphis. Tyler Mills, Calkins tells us, was one of the unofficial bookers of the Nights and would go over the card with Griz front office member Jason Potter, his neighbor. Since both Mills and Grizz, the mascot, were cancer fighters it meant more than most. Grizz was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and Mills back in November.
Mills and Potter brought the "Money in the Bank" briefcase idea into the scripting, but it was a lunchbox- a perfect wink to it... Mills passed in January of a rare abdominal tumor, so Grizz cashed in the lunchbox last night.
“We're not guaranteed tomorrow, and we never know when our time is,” Potter says. “When I think about saving `No' to Tyler when he sent me that text, and never having a chance to say `Yes' again, it has informed a lot of what I have done since.”
So maybe Wrestling Night isn’t that ridiculous. Not if we learn something from Tyler Mills. Not if we open ourselves to whatever adventures might come our way, any place, any time.
And the HQ would ask if there's a trophy around for Wrestling Nights (or, maybe, even the lunchbox itself), that Mills name and legacy be all over it.
