Every once in a while during a hockey game you'll see the opposing goalies join in a full on line brawl by taking on each other. And it's usually a somewhat awkward tussle as the goalies sport tons of padding and masks.

But it is really odd to see a goalie pummel a opposing player...in front of his own goal. Which is what happened Thursday night after New Jersey Devils forward Kyle Palmieri crashed into Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price on an awkward breakaway attempt.

A Canadiens defenseman tried to stop Palmieri and sent him crashing into Price's legs, knocking the veteran goaltender off his skates onto the ice. But it's what happened next that was eye opening....

Price springs back up and begins pummeling the prone Palmieri who had someone draped over the front part of his torso and couldn't move. He just keeps on punching Palmieri in the back and kidney/side area until a referee finally skates over and pulls the enraged goaltender off....

After the 5-2 Canadiens win, Price calmly explained why he went off and it sounds somewhat logical if you think about it...
