If their is any clear indication to Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith and General Manager Thomas Dimitroff that their days might be numbered it's this one.

According to Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen at the 4 - letter (ESPN) the Falcons have hired the search firm Korn Ferry to identify head coaching candidates should the team decide to make a change.

Smith backside is damn near nuclear heading into the game Sunday against the Carolina Panthers in a game that will decide the NFC South.

The Falcons were expected to content if not win the division which they appear they might but not with a 6-9 record.  9-6 perhaps but not a losing record.

Ian Rapport said Sunday morning on the NFL Network's NFL GameDay First show; "First of all, they have not been told their fate as of yet, but they believe that if the Falcons lose tonight, that there will be some big changes, included the firing of head coach Mike Smith. On the other side, if they win tonight, the belief is that they also need to win a playoff game to ensure that there are no changes in Atlanta."

Smith has a career record of 66-45 as the Falcons head coach but 10-21 the last two seasons.

Smith's post-season record is below the Schottenheimer line at 1-4

According to nfl.com that same search firm will look for general manager candidates in case the team makes a move regarding Thomas Dimitroff's fate.
