Free Agency Not All About Breaking News!

Free agency is a time that becomes very important to players as they try to find a place to play for the next season. However, it isn't always so serious. Just like with anyone else, these guys like to have fun, especially when it comes to trying to recruit others. Let's take a look at another reason why this is such a fun time in the NBA.

As it was reported throughout the free agency, Andre Iguodala, a very important part to the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, was open to talking with other teams this offseason. Reports came out that Iguodala was on the move and would not return to the Warriors. This quickly made Iggy's decision one that many people would follow. With many eyes on him, Iggy took advantage of it by letting people know exactly what he would do.

As you see above, Iguodala took a page from the reporters to announce that he would stay on the Warriors. A very fun way to announce his return, which seemed to get as much attention as following his decision. Personally I found this to be quite a funny move by Iguodala. However it did not stop there as a famous reporter by the name of David Aldridge had a fun comeback to this.

Another fun example of this kind of humor comes from the recruiting side of free agency. A big free agent by the name of Gordon Hayward has yet to sign with a team. It is being reported that the three teams interested in Hayward are the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat and Hayward's current team, the Utah Jazz. Well a certain Jazz player took to twitter to try and help Hayward make a decision.

As shown, Rudy Gobert, the Center for the Jazz tweeted out this message which is all but directed toward his teammate. For those that need it, let me help translate. The Heat are trash, the Celtics stink, and the Jazz are champions, according to Gobert. This is just another way that these players are having fun this offseason. Apparently Gobert isn't alone, as some fans have backed him up as one made a t-shirt using those same emojis that Gobert used. Gobert would go on to reply by saying he needs one of them. Like with Iggy's tweet, I also found this to be quite funny.

It's good to see these players having fun, but also trying to do what is needed to help their teams out. This is one of the many reasons why I enjoy the NBA offseason. It's not just a down time in between each season. It's a time for the draft, summer league, trades, new signings, and most importantly, fun for the the players and fans.
