Shaly Werdel lays it in for the hoop as the Miller Lady Rustlers ran past CEB.

While all of western South Dakota is bracing for the Lakota Nation Invitational, a lot of ball being played across the state last week with a few kind of eye-popping results.

The Miller girls are 2-0 with a 58-42 win over Potter County and a decisive, 47-34 win over Cheyenne Eagle-Butte. Tell ya what, that might be a quiet win for so early in the season but CEB is the No. 1 seeded girls team at Lakota Nation and Miller just beat them by 13.

Coach Aaron Zeller has a fairly young roster with just one senior, Shaly Werdel on the roster.

10 10 Erin Moncur 5'4 G/F 10, 12 12 VonnaGail Schlechter 5'7 F 9, 14 14 Karly Beckett 5'9 G/F 11, 20 20 Teanna Pawlowski 5'6 G/F 11, 22 22 Shaly Werdel 5'5 G 12, 24 24 Rachel Oligmueller 5'5 F 9, 30 30 Kadye Fernholz 6'0 F 9, 32 32 Brooke Sargent 5'4 G/F 10, 34 34 Annie Keeter 5'11 F 11, 40 40 Abby Ketelhut 5'3 G 9, 54 54 Elise Brooks 6'0 C 10,

Seeing a couple of six-footers on the roster and names like Moncur and Schlecter appear to have dotted the South Dakota hoops channels in the past.

Werdel had 19 points in that win over CEB and Fernolz, the 6-foot freshman had 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Region 6 looks very solid, AGAIN, with CEB, McLaughlin, MO-PO and now Miller expected to be up in the mix.

Let's see how the Rustlers do over the holidays with a game at Northwestern and at Kimball/WhiteLake
