Alshon Jeffery Suspended Four Games
The struggling Chicago Bears are now at even more of a disadvantage with their star receiver Alshon Jeffery suspended for four games. The team announced that he violated the NFL's performance-enhancing drugs policy.
Jeffery is undoubtedly the No. 1 target for the team. He has recorded 40 catches for 630 yards and one touchdown this season so far. Jeffery, 26, is playing through his fifth NFL season, but has struggled to play through the entire season throughout his career. In two of the previous four years he was limited to ten games or less due to injuries.
The Bears decided to give their franchise tag to Alshon Jeffery to keep him on the team this season. He is making around $14.6 million. Per ESPN's Adam Caplan, Jeffery will lose out on $3.435 million during his suspension since there is no pay during his time out.
Jeffery has been a huge threat down the sideline and in the back of the end zone with his body size of 6'4", 230-pound. The Bears will now be playing without their two best receivers. Kevin White was put on injured reserve in October.
John Fox: “We’re very disappointed. He’s fairly embarrassed about it. We’ll support him and welcome him back after serving his suspension."— Kevin Fishbain (@kfishbain) November 14, 2016
Jay Culter will have to rely on Zach Miller and Eddie royal.
